Causes of Facial Sagging By Tenercy Ho |
Facial Sagging can be caused by many factors. Some are related to the individual lifestyle and diet, others may be caused by underlying health issues. Health problems that may contribute to facial sagging include sinus problems, poor blood circulation e.g. cold face, cold hands and feet, sleeping problems (poor sleep and insomnia), stress, anxiety and depression. |
Sinus Problems & Facial Sagging |
During the period that I have worked with facial rejuvenation acupuncture for face lifting purposes, I have found that there is a close correlation between face sagging and sinus conditions. In cases of sinus conditions such as sinusitis, hay fever and blocked nose, the nasal membrane becomes chronically inflamed. If this is in combination with poor blood circulation to the face, the facial muscles fail to receive adequate nourishment and nutrients, this results in the facial muscles getting smaller. Consequently, they fail to support the skin layer above and result in face sagging. |
Circulation Problems & Facial Sagging |
Poor blood circulation is another key problem that can cause face sagging. As we all know, when we eat less, we would lose weight, similarly, when our muscles get less nourishment than they needed, they also loss mass and reduce their sizes. Smaller muscles do not provide adequate support to the skin layer above, this consequently leads to facial sagging. |
Stress, anxiety, depression & face sagging |
In this modern day life, it is hard not to suffer from some degree of stress, anxiety or depression. So, how does stress play a part in causing face sagging? When our body is under stress, the blood circulation pattern changes. Our body concentrates the blood flow to the body trunk and minimises blood circulating to the peripheral areas, namely hands, feet and face. Consequently, the facial muscles receive inadequate nourishments and results in face sagging. |
